How to Record from Other Sites
- Select Other Site from the site dropdown (or just paste a URL and CaptureGem will auto-detect it)
- Paste the full stream URL (e.g.
https://www.twitch.tv/username) - Click Add Stream
CaptureGem will use Streamlink to handle the recording. The stream will be saved as an MP4 file in your configured output directory.
Live Streams vs. Videos
- Live streams (e.g. a Twitch channel that is currently live) will record continuously until the stream ends or you stop the recording
- Videos / VODs (e.g. a YouTube video) will download the full video and automatically set auto-record to "Single" so it doesn't re-download
Notes
- Some sites may require the stream to be live for recording to start. If the stream is offline, CaptureGem will report it as offline
- Twitch streams may have pre-roll ads that are filtered out, so the recorded video may be slightly shorter than the actual stream duration
- The "Monitor" feature works with other sites too -- it records at the lowest quality for live preview purposes and deletes the data when monitoring ends
