How to Record From XCams: A Quick Guide

Record public XCams live streams with CaptureGem 2.14.9 or later. XCams recording uses the browser built into the CaptureGem desktop app on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

1. Install CaptureGem

Download CaptureGem for your operating system and open the desktop app. Check that your version is 2.14.9 or later so XCams appears in the site selector.

The standalone recorder daemon cannot record XCams without the CaptureGem desktop browser running.

2. Add an XCams room

Open the broadcaster's public room on XCams. Copy its room URL, such as https://www.xcams.com/chat/model_username/, replacing the example username with the actual model username.

Paste the room URL into CaptureGem, or select XCams and enter the model username. Confirm XCams is selected, then click Add Stream. XCams and XLoveCam are separate sites, so choose the entry that matches your room URL.

3. Complete site access steps if prompted

CaptureGem loads the room in its own XCams browser window. If recording cannot start because the site needs age confirmation, acceptance of its terms, or sign-in, an XCams window may appear. Complete those steps there, then retry recording from CaptureGem.

Sign in inside that XCams window when required; signing in through your usual web browser does not sign in the CaptureGem session. If XCams reports that your free viewing time has ended, follow the site's sign-in instructions before retrying.

Once recording starts, the capture window runs in the background. Keep CaptureGem open while recording.

4. Monitor and find your recording

Check the stream's recording status in CaptureGem. Use Monitor to view recording previews, and stop the recording from the app when you have finished.

After recording finishes processing, open Review to play the saved video or open its folder. You can choose your recording folder and recording length in Settings.

XCams recording notes and troubleshooting

  • Offline room: Wait until the model is broadcasting publicly, then try again.
  • Private or restricted room: The XCams integration records public rooms. Recording stops if the room becomes private, paid, blurred, or otherwise restricted.
  • Access or sign-in message: Complete the site's steps in CaptureGem's XCams window and explicitly retry recording. CaptureGem respects XCams viewing limits.
  • Recording does not start or stops: Check that the public video can play in the XCams window and that your connection is working. If the broadcast ends or the player stops delivering video, wait for it to return before retrying.
  • XCams is missing from the selector: Update to CaptureGem 2.14.9 or later.
