CaptureGemHow to Record From ManyVids: A Quick Guide
Record public ManyVids Live shows with CaptureGem 2.14.11 or later. ManyVids recording uses the CaptureGem desktop app on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and you don't need a ManyVids account.
1. Install CaptureGem
Download CaptureGem for your operating system and open the desktop app. Check that your version is 2.14.11 or later so ManyVids appears in the site selector.
The standalone recorder daemon cannot record ManyVids without the CaptureGem desktop app running.
2. Add a ManyVids creator
Open the creator's live room from ManyVids Live. Copy its room URL, such as https://www.manyvids.com/live/cam/creator_handle, replacing the example handle with the creator's actual handle. A profile URL such as https://www.manyvids.com/Profile/1234567/creator_handle/live also works.
Paste the URL into CaptureGem and ManyVids is selected for you. You can also select ManyVids and enter the room handle, which is the part of the room URL after /live/cam/. A handle can differ from the creator's display name, so copy it from the URL. Then click Add Stream.
3. Record and monitor
CaptureGem checks whether the creator is live and starts recording when a public show is on. Keep CaptureGem open while recording; the capture runs in the background. Use Monitor to view recording previews, and stop the recording from the app when you have finished.
4. Find your recording
After recording finishes processing, open Review to play the saved video or open its folder. You can choose your recording folder and recording length in Settings.
ManyVids recording notes and troubleshooting
- Offline creator: Wait until the creator starts a public show, then try again.
- Private show: CaptureGem records public shows only. If a public show goes private, the recording stops and keeps what was already captured.
- Wrong or unknown creator: Use the room handle from the creator's URL, not their display name.
- Recording does not start: Check that the show plays in your browser on ManyVids Live and that your connection is working. Some creators block viewers from certain regions; if a show doesn't play for you on ManyVids, CaptureGem can't record it either.
- ManyVids is missing from the selector: Update to CaptureGem 2.14.11 or later.
