New Proxy Feature Released in CaptureGem 2.13.1 - Record Private Shows and Unsupported Sites
We are excited to announce the release of CaptureGem version 2.13.1 with a powerful new Proxy Feature that opens up recording possibilities like never before!
What is the Proxy Feature?
The Proxy Feature allows you to route your browser traffic through CaptureGem, enabling you to record any video stream you can view in Chrome. This groundbreaking feature unlocks several new capabilities:
- Record private shows on Chaturbate and Stripchat
- Access unsupported sites that weren't previously recordable
- Download saved recordings from cam sites that use streaming for playback
- Use as an alternative method for public recordings on supported sites
How It Works
The proxy feature works by intercepting network requests from your Chrome browser and routing them through CaptureGem. When you start Chrome in proxy mode, all video streams you watch become available for recording in CaptureGem's new Proxy tab.
Simply:
- Start CaptureGem and navigate to the Proxy tab
- Launch Chrome in proxy mode (using a batch script on Windows or Terminal commands on macOS)
- Watch any video stream in Chrome
- See the stream appear in CaptureGem's Proxy tab
- Click the record button to start recording
Supported Sites
The proxy feature has been tested and works with:
- Chaturbate (including private shows)
- Stripchat (including private shows)
- CamSoda
- BongaCams
It should also work with any cam site that streams video through standard HLS protocols, making it a versatile solution for recording content from sites that weren't previously supported.

Additional Improvements
In addition to the proxy feature, version 2.13.1 includes a new setting to limit concurrent requests. This setting can help solve IPC (Inter-Process Communication) errors that sometimes occur with Stripchat recordings. If you've experienced IPC errors while recording Stripchat streams, try adjusting this setting in CaptureGem's Settings.
Important Notes
Metadata Note: Currently, metadata is not automatically set correctly for proxied recordings. You will need to manually edit the metadata in the Review tab after recording completes.

Other improvements in 2.13.1:
- Fixed issue with IPC errors when starting too many Stripchat or other recordings at once. There is a new option in the Settings to limit concurrent requests.
- New ability to modify video metadata in the Review tab via clicking the three dots and selecting "Edit Metadata".
