How to Record From TangoMe: A Quick Guide
Record public TangoMe live streams with the CaptureGem desktop app on Windows, macOS, and Linux. You don't need a Tango account: CaptureGem watches as an anonymous visitor.
1. Install CaptureGem
Download CaptureGem for Windows, macOS, or Linux and open the desktop app. Use the latest version. CaptureGem 2.14.11 and later apply the TangoMe limit under Max Resolution Per Site; earlier versions could use another site's setting.
2. Copy the stream link
Open the broadcaster's live stream on Tango and copy the address from your browser's address bar, such as https://www.tango.me/stream/stream_id. CaptureGem uses the stream ID, the last part of the address after /stream/. A display name or profile nickname is not a stream ID.
3. Add the stream
On the Record tab, paste the link into Enter URL or Username in the Add Stream panel. CaptureGem selects TangoMe for you. You can also choose TangoMe under Select Website and enter just the stream ID. Leave Monitor Only off so the stream is saved, then click Add Stream.
4. Record the show
If the stream is live, the status changes to Recording within a few seconds. Otherwise the Status column tells you why:
- Offline: the stream isn't live, or Tango has no video for it right now.
- Errored: the stream could not be checked or recorded.
Hover over a status to see more detail, including the reason for an Errored status.
Free version and auto-record
The free version saves up to 5 minutes per recording and lets you add up to 10 streams. It records a stream when you add or start it while it is live. Premium removes those limits and adds auto-record: select the stream on the Record tab, choose Modify Auto Record under Actions, and pick Record Always.
On TangoMe, auto-record keeps checking only the stream ID you added. CaptureGem can't find a broadcaster's other streams, so if their next show has a new stream link, add that link as well.
Open the Monitor tab to see live previews of everything you are recording.
5. Find your recording
When a recording ends, CaptureGem converts it into a video file; long recordings can take a little while. Open the Review tab to play, trim, tag or delete it, or click Open Video Folder on the Record tab. Recordings are saved as MP4 files by default. With Premium, each file is up to 60 minutes long by default, and auto-record starts the next file straight away. You can change the save location, the file length (Cap Video Segments at Duration (Minutes)) and the file container in Settings.
TangoMe notes and troubleshooting
- Old stream links: CaptureGem checks only the stream ID you added. If an old stream link stays Offline while the broadcaster is live, open their current live stream on Tango and add its stream link.
- Stream ends while recording: The recording stops with Errored. The part recorded before that is kept and converted as usual.
- "TangoMe visitor check-in failed" or "TangoMe richWindow returned code …": Tango refused the anonymous visitor session or didn't return the stream. Check that the stream plays in your browser without signing in and that you copied the link of a current stream, then try again.
- Quality: CaptureGem records the best quality the stream offers. When a stream comes in more than one quality, you can set a lower limit for TangoMe under Max Resolution Per Site in Settings > Advanced Settings.
If a recording keeps failing, update CaptureGem, check that the stream plays in your browser, and ask in our Discord community. Premium members can also send a failed recording to support.
